Most websites don’t fail loudly. They just quietly send visitors away. Here are seven common signs your site is costing you customers, and what to do about each one.
1. It takes more than three seconds to load
People leave slow sites before they see a single word. Compress large images, remove plugins you don’t use, and use good hosting with caching turned on.
2. It’s hard to use on a phone
Most visitors arrive on mobile. If text is tiny, buttons are cramped or they need to zoom, they’ll go back to Google and pick someone else.
3. Visitors can’t tell what you do in five seconds
Your first screen should say what you offer, who it’s for and where you work. If someone has to scroll to understand it, many never will.
4. There’s no clear next step
Every page needs one obvious action: call, book, get a quote or send a message. If the button is buried or missing, interest turns into nothing.
5. There’s no proof you’re good at what you do
Reviews, examples of your work and real photos build trust. Without them, visitors have only your word to go on.
6. Your contact form asks too much
Long forms scare people off. Ask only for what you need to reply: name, email and a short message is often enough.
7. It doesn’t show up on Google
A great site nobody can find doesn’t bring enquiries. Page titles, descriptions, headings and a fast, clean setup are the basics of being found.
